Day 6: Last of the Partriges (in Alltsigh)

Hello readers,

Today was our earliest start ever. We were ready and walking, well, climbing by 8:15. There was a little bit of an issue with the path – we may or may not have walked the high route. All in all, the low route was closed due to lumberjack activities. A few hours into our walk, we found a mystery BnB were we enjoyed a hot cup of tea. We learned about birds, forestry, climate and Nessie. Throughout our walk, we had Canada flashbacks with snowfall ranging from light to heavy-sticky. The exposed path was rendered treacherous under the snow, but the snowy summits were a sight to see. Once again, the sight seeing passed right under our noses – the Stone Cave and Stone Seat had no path that we could see… An incredible runner passed us by (the second person we encountered on the Great Glen Way) and a man with three massive dogs told us we were 4 miles from Drumnadrochit when, and hour and a half later, we found out we were still 4,5 miles away.

We saw: a forest of bearded oaks, sheep, dogs, a pottery house (hot chocolate and pineapple-whisky fruitcake), lots uprooted trees, a walker produce exchange stand, Highland cows with and without horns, lots of horse dung and a happy pharmacy with pain-killer cream.

We are sleepy, that’s all for now folks.

Cheers and be well

Suzanne & Lynne
